EIGHT STEPS TO CREATING FLOW IN VIRTUAL LEARNING ENVIRONMENTS
School for New Learning - Center to Advance Education for Adults (CAEA)
Thursday, October 22nd - 5:30PM - 8:00PM - Lewis Center Computer Lab 1308
In this interactive session, Dennis Glenn will introduce web-based tools that can enhance 'flow' in a virtual learning environment, whether workplace, school, or home setting. What is 'flow'? Borrowing from Csikszentmihalyi’s* (1990) concept of flow, optimal learning experiences occur when people are so involved in an activity that nothing else seems to matter. With adult learners in virtual environments, we need to use tools that insure the learner is engaged in the process and feels a sense of well-being. We need to make sure that they receive constructive feedback that fosters their motivation and enjoyment of the learning process. How can we get to flow? Dennis Glenn will lead participants through 8 steps of a flow activity that will maximize virtual learning with interactive tools. Participants will leave with a set of on-line tools (free and practical) for their use and distribution to others. The first 40 registrants will be provided access to a computer for this hands-on session.

The turbulence and complexity of present-day Iran and its relation to the West are evidenced in recent work by thirty-six artists, twenty-one residing in Iran and the remainder in diaspora. The exhibition ranges from traditionally informed paintings to video installations, and from stridently political images that address current events to lyrical and nostalgic references to peace and stability. Organized by the Chelsea Museum, New York.
